DEPARTMENT OF BENGALI

The Department of Bengali is one of the oldest and most prestigious departments of Santipur College which began in 1948 with the establishment of the college. Since birth this department has endeavoured to cultivate critical and artistic thinking among bright young minds of the area. Along with it department of Bengali imparts quality education in the field of literary studies; several alumnus are serving as assistant professors in different college and universities in West Bengal.The Department has proven to be hub of cultural activities since it’s inception and earned this prestigious position by organizing several seminars, cultural programmes, theatre performances to unleash academic and artistic potentials of the students. Presently the department takes immense pride in publishing departmental magazines and wall magazines at frequent interval.

Departmental Activities:

Special Lectures: At frequent intervals eminent scholars of specific disciplinary fields deliver special lectures.

Tutorial Classes: Thoroughly planned tutorial classes are organized to benefit the students in a positive manner.

Remedial Classes: Planned as integral part of the routine for the students belonging to under privileged section.

Assessments and Assignments: Keeping in mind the needs of CBCS course pattern students are regularly mentored with proper assignments and respective teachers provide helpful assessments to furnish their writing skill.

Guardians’ Meeting: Held twice in a year to pay serious consideration to the concerns, advice and suggestions offered by the guardians.

Seminar: Annually organized on the occasion of “Bhasa Dibas” on 21st February to commemorate the day as well as encourage critical activities amongst students.

Wall Magazine: Twice in a year the cherished wall magazine of the department “Murali” is designed.

Departmental Magazine: Biennial magazine “Srijan” is published by the department of Bengali edited by eminent Professors.

Poster Presentation: Students are thoroughly encouraged to participate in poster presentation which in turn could reflect their innovative ideas and creative outlook in the fields of literature.

Special Achievements: Sudip Chattopadhyay one of the ex students of Bengali department stood first in the University examination of 2015.
Mahua Khatun, another excellent of Santipur College, department of Bengali has stood first in M.A final examination of Kalyani University, department of Bengali.
