The NSS ( National Service Scheme) Unit of Santipur college attempts to provide the students an opportunity to approach, understand and work for the communities living at the outskirts of Santipur municipality; to identify their needs and problems as well as the solutions in which they can be involved by assuming social and civic responsibilities. The NSS unit as convened by Prof. Kinkar Mondal conducts seven-day-long social camp once a year along with other social activities and awareness programmes like Blood Donation camp, Thallassemia/HIV awareness programmes, Swacchata Paksha and the like throughout the year, which provide the students with the opportunity to apply their education in finding practical solutions to the problems faced by the individuals and the community at large. The NSS unit of the college aims at arousing social consciousness of the youth with an overall objective of personality development through community service. It, in a way, enables the students to participate in various schemes and programmes of social service, awareness and development, and to extend their helping hands toward the (underdeveloped) communities. The Santipur college NSS unit has been actively assisted by faculties and non-teaching staff of the college who also participate and promote these social awareness programmes. It is to be noted that this year the Best NSS Programme Officer award (Kalyani University) was conferred on Sri Kinkar Mondal. Eminent dignitaries from different fields--medical practitioners or social activists take active part in NSS organized programmes and camps. Every year as many as 100 students from the 1st year Honours/General course enroll their names to conduct these social camps and awareness programmes. Prof. Asim Kr. Pal, Prof. Anirban Bhattacharjee, Prof. Shreebas Debnath, Prof. Subrata Roy, Prof. Samadhan Sikari, Prof. Chiranjit Roy, Prof. Ramkrishna Mondal and Sri Biswajit Roy actively assist the NSS pupils to organize these camps and programmes successfully.
